Mission Statement

Since 1941, Pierce County Historical Association volunteers have been dedicated to preserving the heritage of Pierce County, Wisconsin, through public education and collections of historically significant manuscripts, artifacts, documents, and books. We provide research assistance at our office and through mail and email requests.

The PCHA office and archives are located in the village of Ellsworth, established as the Pierce County seat in 1861. We own and operate two history sites in Bay City, Wisconsin, maintain an 1885 rural schoolhouse at the Pierce County Fairgrounds in Ellsworth, and oversee a pre-history era symbol on a bluffside near Hager City.

Our membership is open to all who have an interest in supporting PCHA’s mission. We hope that you find the contents of this site both informative and enjoyable. We believe that the pre-history and history of our section of western Wisconsin are fascinating, and that the events and achievements of our past are worth saving for future generations.
